Any images floating around out there of the PC3K are not actual photos.
I have the only "final" version here in my office.
Cosmetically, it's just a PC3 with wooden end-caps and silver inlay between the caps and the enclosure.
Looks classy.

You'll find that for things like Wurly, Rhodes and strings, the onboard presets are going to be much better than anything you could find with outside samples.
I think many users will use the sample memory for things that are not included in the PC3 ROM, like tablas or bagpipes or sound fx.
There is a good amount of K2000/2500/2600 content out there that is already sized to fit in the 128MB memory.

We did not intentionally "limit" the ROM to 128MB.
Originally, there was never going to be a Pc3K.
Due to requests from the industry, mainly from Andrew Lloyd Weber, we decided to release the PC3K as a stop-gap measure to hold over users who need sample memory, while we continue work on "the next big thing".
In order to not cause delays with "the next big thing" and other projects we tried to make as few changes to the PC3 as possible.
The PC3 has additional memory slots for 64MB and 128MB - that, plus the fact that the K series (for which the PC3K offers compatibility) had 128 was the reason for having 128.

So it made perfect sense to use the PC3's 128MB slot.

We couldn't afford to spend time on changing the memory size or else the PC3K would never have been ready in time for the sequel to Phantom of the Opera, The Who a the Super Bowl (which is where the PC3K debuted) or the rehearsals for the upcoming Roger Waters The Wall tour.

There is a chance that we will allow an additional 64MB of memory to be added in the 64MB ROM option slot, which would bring total memory to 192MB.

Note - what sets the PC3K apart from the other workstations out there is the non-volatile memory.
In any other workstation, you lose your samples when you power off and have to re-load them upon power on again.
(Nord Wave is the only other board to use non-volatile memory.)

sineceramente l'immagine non mi sembra una foto dello strumento...sembra più una ricostruzione fatta con qualche programma tipo autocad

ma quale immagineeeeee....è un rendering al computer quello.

ma azz....vabbè che ho postato in inglese senza tradurre, ma Dave Weiser (l'autore delle parole di cui sopra) ha chiaramente detto che quelle che girano NON sono foto....ne esiste una sola versione finale e ce l'ha lui. La PC3K finale è esteticamente una pc3 con i lati in legno ed inserti argentati tra legno e struttura.

il "TUTTO IN ITALIANO" linkato sono solo le caratteristiche descritte dagli importatori italiani....

Quello che mi sembrava interessante era il discorso sulla memoria, sugli slot di espansione e del perchè 128 Mb (espandibili a 192), per dare una PC3 che caricasse campioni a Lloyd Weber (Jesus Christ Superstar e altro) gli Who per il Superbowl di gennaio e il tour di Roger Waters e non perdere mercato prina dell'uscita della nuova serie K....vabbè, ognuno trova interessante ciò che vuole.

La cosa un pò massacrante di kurzweil è che ultimamente fa troppi annunci anticipati, la pc3K ha fatto la sua comparsa sul web a dicembre 2009, il rischio è che qui in italia non la vedremo nei negozi prima di fine anno, e mentre ancora la pc3K non si vede si legge chiaramente che hanno in canna il new K.

dai che si sbrighino a dare l'arrosto, perchè il fumo ......... fa male

...infatti non ho parlato di foto ma di immagine!...nitida e bella perchè, rispetto alle pochissime foto o video che girano, almeno si riesce ad intuire qualcosina in più!...in effetti il problema è che hanno annunciato un pò troppo in anticipo l'uscita della macchina!...aspettiammo...
